why I do what I do
More than ten years ago, I wrote a paper to get me into the accredited Interior Design Bachelor’s program at BYU-Idaho. What I had to write about is why I want to be an interior designer. Although I don’t have that paper anymore, I know the gist of it and it still rings true today.
So why do I do what I do?
It’s simple. I make people’s dreams come true… who wouldn’t want to do that?! I get to create and imagine every day. It makes me giddy to see things I have drawn in elevation be implemented and turn into a tangible beauty. I also think it is just like Christmas when I get a surprise package of samples at my door.
Building a house can be stressful, time consuming, emotional… but I feel like I have done my job when I ease those feelings and turn the process into an adventure of a lifetime. Building a house or an office or an apartment complex should be fun! Or why are we doing it?? We get the chance to dream and to create … so let’s have some fun!
I want the spaces I design to last. I want memories, just like the ones I hold dear growing up, to happen within the walls of the home. And this is why I do what I do. For you. For future generations.
So now the real question is… why the heck would I start a blog?
Two reasons: SEO (am I right??) // podcasts are so addicting, but I don’t have time to get that going yet. So instead, I will write.
But really… There are thousands of blogs of amazingly talented interior designers out there. But here I am… sharing what I know. I hope you stick with me we might learn a thing or two from each other.
